We are the people who keep knowledge free.
Kashmiri Wikimedians are part of the global Wikimedia community, a network of individuals and groups who believe that knowledge should be freely available to everyone. Projects like Kashmiri Wikipedia are built and sustained by volunteers, and we work to support and grow this effort in Kashmir and beyond.
Who We Are
We are a collective of volunteers, contributors, and advocates dedicated to advancing free knowledge in the Kashmiri language. Our work is inspired by the values of the Wikimedia Movement: openness, collaboration, and accessibility for all.
What We Do
We contribute to the growth of Kashmiri Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects through:
- Organizing outreach activities and awareness campaigns.
- Hosting training sessions and workshops to bring in new contributors.
- Building collaborations with institutions, educators, and cultural groups.
- Supporting Wikimedians in Kashmir and Kashmiri speakers worldwide with technical, linguistic, and community assistance.
Our Mission
Our mission is to ensure that the Kashmiri language, culture, and heritage have a strong and lasting presence in the global digital knowledge ecosystem. We work to empower every Kashmiri speaker and learner to contribute, collaborate, and take ownership of their knowledge.
Our Vision
We envision a future where:
- Kashmiri Wikipedia becomes a central hub of free and reliable knowledge in the Kashmiri language.
- Every Kashmiri speaker and learner finds their place within the Wikimedia Movement.
- Knowledge flows freely across generations, without barriers, strengthening the Kashmiri identity in the digital age.
